Custom leather arm bracers are always welcome additions to costumes that celebrate the warrior characters we choose to emulate, and while many do have specific details we need to follow to cosplay and copy; others, like the ones I show here are simply meant to show what is possible. Sturdier and more permanent than the foam or plastic alternatives, leather arm bracers can add a layer of forearm protection in light combat or archery. These small to medium size bracers, intended as a full size bracer for youths and very small adults or as a demi (half-size) for medium size adult arms, celebrate the spirit of Halloween via the warm tone browns and deep oranges we associate with autumn. Two brassy pentacle metal charms, a chinese good luck coin, a yin yang enamel charm, a bat portrait charm on one bracer (flying witch on the other) are arranged around a stiched-on orange, red, and black painted leather scallop concho with silver tone tree of life (enchanted tree?) and accentuate the french curve inspired carving and tooling of the shield shape 7-8 oz (med to heavy weight) veg tan leather cuts that were dyed to showcase the warm beauty of brown in all its glorious red, tan orange variations. The bracers are finished all around with a 1/4” black edge and the interior is lined with glued on black suede cloth before it was wet-formed into its final curved configuration. It is laced criss-cross with black corset lacing thru six grommet finished holes that adjust to fit a variety of smaller to medium arms. Size: 6-1/4” L from apex to wrist , tapering to 4-1/4” L curved sides and 7-1/8” W. Happy Halloween all year long!!!
