Natural Edge Green Tans Brown Leather 6" Long Cell Phone Belt Pouch with Buttons Concho Decor
Be sure to measure your device: this will fit a 6” long smartphone but it will not accommodate a protective surround and stay secure with the magnetic bag snap.
Now that we have determined what this little pocket will not do, let’s see what it is all about—It was inspired by the deep basically diagonal naturally angled edge on a smaller scrap of 4-5 oz veg-tan leather that measures more or less 5” to 8” long by 3-1/2” wide and creates the flap and part of the back. I carved this asymmetrical piece with my French curve template after I edged the piece with a 1/8” line and a stripe on the left side.
I added a rectangular piece from that veg-tan scrap that measures 10” L X 3-1/2 W using my favorite overcast and wrap around stitch (seam is on the back under the loop) creating a generous base for the pocket. This piece I carved into 3 vertical stripes of differing sizes after edging the piece with that 1/8” line carve to contrast and coordinate with the flap carving. I used that favorite overcast and wrap stitch to form the pouch around the stiffer side gussets, rectangular rounded bottom pieces dyed British Tan that measure about 5-1/2” L X 1-5/8” W.
I used heavy med brown waxed thread for construction and black for stitching on the leather scallop concho (pebble texture stamped) which was dyed dark Bison Brown, as was the 1/8” edge that surrounds the entire pocket. The 1/4” narrow stripe on the left is British Tan while the center field and larger stripe is Java (med) Brown—the right stripe is light Tan. The bright green painted curved sine curve is the focal point of the piece accented with a bright brass swirly textured button stitched on at the tip. The aforementioned concho (has green edging), is topped with a very unique wavy 3 colored metallic button ( brass, copper, gunmental) , is attached with 4 brass small rivets. and is surrounded by 8 small brass and copper rivets to make a bold statement.
Finally, the pocket measures 5.5” L (with a rise of 1” above the side gussets) X 3-5/8” W x 1-1/2” D: it accommodates many modern phones, but you must measure your phone, as it will not fit phones longer than 6”. The pouch is secured with a strong magnetic snap closure: black suede cloth fabric was glued to assist the security of the snap and to cover stitching and to line the inside. The piece was wet formed to encourage the flap to lay flat and snap automatically. 1-1/2” wide back strap is long enough to slide onto belts up to 3-1/2” wide and the 3/4” brass drings were attached with narrow straps to the side gussets to convert to crossbody purse (alt view)
REMEMBER: THE BELT (shown above) and the 3/4” BELT/STRAP (shown below) ARE NOT INCLUDED—they can be purchased by using the contact me link

This is not my classic style pouch , but it does use the classic construction methods with the variations described in the listing. Pouches are usually oiled, then often dyed with a combination of antique gel and colors—black, bison brown, java brown, British tan, and oxblood, and finally finished with more oil and several coats of acrylic sealant to protect the pieces from leaching onto costumes. .
