Raven Pewter Sculpture Atop Carved Purple Celtic Circle Decorates this Unique Brown Purse/Pouch

Sale Price: $100.00 Original Price: $105.00

One piece. This unique veg tan leather browns purse/pouch features a definitively flared naturally asymmetrical wavy edged flap that begins with a 1/4” black edge stripe all around, then sectioned on the left with a curved field that was filled in with pebble texture (defined with a thin black line line decorated with 5 black stone rivets) and on the right with a 5/8” stamped curvy patterned stripe—raised serpentine portions painted purple.

The focus of this pouch flap is the highly decorated pewter winged raven skull medallion which was sewn onto the centered hand carved Celtic circle, check beveled all round with the raised portions also painted the same royal purple as the coordinating stripe described above. This unique flared flap was stitched onto the body of the pocket and extends slightly on either side of the structured pocket,

The boxlike pocket is a single rectangle that measures 7” W X 12” L continues the 1/4” black lined edge, and is striped with a variety of colors and widths—see below—formed by stitching the stiff rounded bottom gussets , likewise black line edged, striped with narrow 1/2” oxblood and wider pebble textured deep brown that measure 1-1/2 W X 5-1/4” L to the rectangle piece, making the 7” W X about 6” L flexes X 1-1/2” D a useful size for carrying cell phones, keys, small wallets and other smaller items for a day of walking fair grounds or convening with friends at costume events.

All construction sewing on the pouch body and the flap to pouch is done by using my distinctive overcast and wrapped distinctly primitive technique with waxed “Tiger” thread and reinforced with leathercraft glue on the interior.

I added button apparatus— a large spiky black textured shiny shank button atop my favorite scalloped leather “concho” dyed oxblood and under these a smaller leather platform—to the bottom edge of the flap. This button stack serves as the wrap around for the bead tip corset lacing that secures the pouch closed (see below).

The piece can be worn as a belt pouch—the back loop is 1-1/4” wide and will take a belt up to 3” wide. It can also be worn as a crossbody purse by utilizing the 3/4” d-rings which have been attached to the side gussets. These d-rings and the back loop have been glued, riveted, and stitched to assure maximum stability. All hardware is gunmetal tone and all thread is deep grey .

The belt shown in one figure, and the strap shown in the footnote picture are sold separately and are available only on request and as in-stock options allow.

MORE PRODUTION NOTES:

Fun with Stripes Next to the edge carve on both of the vertical sides are 1/2” oxblood stripes, then a wider deep brown stripe on the left with a wider textured tan stripe (that matches the field on the flap) on the right. The center is yet another 1/2” oxblood stripe surrounded by a pair 1” wide of the curvy patterned stripe raised serpentine purple stripes.

The flap has been wet-formed on top to stay in a casually closed position even when the corset strings have not been wrapped round the button apparatus. This style closure gives the bag some flexibility for things that would be too long for a fixed style or magnetic closure and that is ultimately very easy to use.

Inside, glued on black suede cloth lining protects the sewn on elements and adds a bit more stiffness and substance to the project.
