Unique Edge Flap Variety Browns, Teal "Charmed" Veg Tan Pouch/Purse

One piece. This unique veg tan leather browns purse/pouch features a softly curved asymmetrical edged flap highly decorated, made to coordinate with the Charmed Belt/Baldric that is seen in the belt and baldric sections and is featured in the photos below. . . . . .

At the center of this very unique and detailed flap (described below) is a carved, beveled, painted teal Celtic triquetra design with a sewn on black enamel planchette element pointing ominously to the right. Along the lower edge is the Celtic swirl nickel concho button that forms the wrap around for the closure and a floral bezel. Each of the described decorative elements are balanced in a more or less diagonal cross orientation giving the seemingly randomly placed pieces a design sense of completion that contrasts with the stripes of the body of the pouch. (see description below)

The flap section extends to the middle back of the boxlike pocket where it is sewn on to the striped rectangular body (described below) that wraps round the stitched on coordinating stiff rounded bottom gussets— black line edged, canyon tan and stamped teal diagonal sunburst fields. These gussets. . . . . measure 1-3/4 W X 5-1/2” L with final measurements of the pouch 6-1/2” W X about 7” L (flexes) X 1-3/4” D a useful size for carrying cell phones, keys, small wallets and other smaller items for a day of walking fair grounds or convening with friends at costume events.

The piece can be worn as a belt pouch—the back loop is 1-1/4” wide and will take a belt up to 3” wide. It can also be worn as a crossbody purse by utilizing the 3/4” d-rings which have been attached to the side gussets. These d-rings and the back loop have been glued, riveted, and stitched to assure maximum stability. All hardware is nickel tone and all thread is deep grey .

The decorative center of the flap is discussed above

MORE PRODUTION NOTES:

outside in and left to right on the flap. . ..As with many of my pouches this unique piece begins with a 1/4” black edge stripe all around. A stamped stripe about 3/4” features a favorite sunburst half round border stamp painted and dyed teal defines both the left and the right side of flap and indeed the entire pouch. The middle of the flap is broken with into sections with 3 intersecting french curve lines which were beveled with a favorite checked bevel. The left field is dark oxblood and extends to the lower edge , the middle section is bison brown, and the right field is textured with random tri-weave stamping (cloudy result) and painted purple.

Crystal stone rivets, the first floral bezel lead up the left line to a sunburst charm atop. Just inside the center section of the flap the first and lower crescent moon in rhinestone was sewn on, as was the first turquoise/purple dragon eye that sits between the points of the moon.

The second crescent moon. . .a stamped man in the moon on a teal scalloped leather concho with the second dragon was stitched into the purple textured field

The stripes on the body of the pouch are as follows. . the usual black 1/4” all around, and on either side the 3/4” teal stripe discussed above. From left to right the center section of the pouch is first a 1-1/2” random triquetra stamped purple painted stripe that matches the field on the flap; next, a British Tan dyed 2-1/4” larger field; then a 1/2” tan stripe next to the 1” bison brown dyed stripe. . .these colors contrast and blend with the highly decorated and already discussed flap.

All construction sewing on the pouch body and the flap to pouch is done by using my distinctive overcast and wrapped distinctly primitive technique with waxed “Tiger” thread and reinforced with leathercraft glue on the interior.
