Unique Large Black and Red Nickle on Tan Leather Holster and Recycled Parts Steampunk Sonic Screwdriver Set

Larger tubular items need larger holsters to hang on belts. This holster starts with a rounded top edged gently waved on the right natural, slightly wider heavy veg tan leather scrap that ends in a bottom point that was lined carved all around, then textured with randomly placed tri weave stamping. It was dyed saddle tan, then the edges were painted red.

The two crossover pieces that strap the large sonic screwdriver in place are both made from naturally edged scraps of lighter leather and are stitched into place with the mostly decorative saddle stitching done with black waxed thread and that separates the red edge from the tan interior. Those straps have been line edged in red and triweave textured black then placed at about thirds, flapping left.

Top larger flap is tied down by wrapping leather thong around a leather button that is covered with a black scalloped leather concho, edge lined and painted red, carved with a red pentacle, accented with smaller sewn on pentacle, decorated with a larger tree of life charm at the apex and defined on the left with a riveted in bezel. Bottom smaller asymmetrical strap is buttoned in place with Sam Browne stud, embellished with a fancy medium pentacle sewn on charm.

The top right corner of the main holster has another black textured, edge red lined scalloped leather concho sewn on to display the larger tree of life and pentacle Celtic charm. All hardware is nickel plated. The mystical tree of life and pentacles fit the Hunter aesthetic.

The grey based pvc pipe steampunk sonic screwdriver topped with a flared header made from recycled wash machine knob, gasket, dial from a pharma cannister and a “gear” from the same device contrasts well with the holster. The screwdriver’s bottom section is made of two pvc pipe fittings and another gear from the same medical delivery device. Every thing is painted white, copper, brass, dark red and striped with blk electrical tape

This holster will slide onto a belt up to 3-1/2” wide. Please note: the black belt shown in one of the photos is not part of this set. The steampunk sonic screwdriver and holster measure about 13 L X 5-1/8” W X 2-7/8” D (not counting the back loop).

Every steampunk sonic screwdriver holster (and the related steampunk wand holster group) is unique because each piece is designed using scraps from my bigger projects. I am inspired by the natural edges of leather in all my builds, but these little holders for basically tubular items are just plain fun. All the weird angles, fluted bits of natural edging and leftover strapping contribute to the fun and when decorative thematic elements are added thru stamping, carving, embossing, colors chosen then dyed and painted, metallic charms, conchos, bezels, buttons further define the individual pieces. Elastic loops are installed to hold smaller items (ie wands) in place and the top and bottom “closures” are added for security and for design continuity. You ask can I buy just the holster? Yes. Steampunk Sonic Screwdrivers were born at the height of the Steampunk aesthetic and inspired by the tool of my favorite Doctor.
